is currently under attack

Goolengook Blockade is Australia's, and possibly the world's, longest running forest blockade. The blockade commenced in December 1996 and has had a constant presence of forest defenders ever since. On the Tuesday 5 March 2002 the blockade was busted and the camp destroyed, now this magnificent forest is being plundered. Police and NRE, in a military style operation, are attempting to stop peaceful protest over this destruction. But the defenders of the forest are fighting on. Both in Goolengook and in Melbourne the Victorian government are facing outrage over the logging of Goolengook. Voices from all over the country and internationally are demanding that this area is protected. JOIN THE CALL.

Logging operations in Little Goolengook, March 2002. Three coupes are currently underway. With many more planned in the coming months.
Hundreds of Police and Department of Natural Resources and Environment officers are on site to ensure that logging goes ahead. This is a show of force by the state never before seen in forest protests.
Protesters remain resolute in the face of massive state force. People continue to gather in Goolengook to take a stand on this issue.
